It's a Long Way to Alaska from Georgia and Michigan...

Rich and Amy Fetterhoff, originally from Georgia
and Michigan, own and operate the Pioneer Inn in Homer Alaska. How did that happen? Here's our story!
In March, 1991 Rich and Amy Fetterhoff drove up the Alcan from Atlanta to Homer to become new owners of Pioneer Inn . . .
Rich grew up in Atlanta; Amy grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They were newly married and living in
Atlanta when they came upon the opportunity to have their own business, something seasonal,
in Alaska—Homer Alaska!
Rich was a commercial pilot and Amy was a secretary but they could just taste Alaska. Back in
1977 Rich and Amy separately came to the Northland and Rich kept in touch with his
Alaskan contacts, one of whom started the Pioneer. When he offered it to Rich, the timing
was perfect for them.
Now they have three boys and home school them all. Rich has learned building and likes
to build houses on the side. Amy is Mom full time and loves to pedal her road bike for
exercise. They are together as a family at Pioneer Inn, spending their summers
four wheeling, hunting, fishing and playing across the bay.
